    "I am so thankful to have been surrounded by the beautiful sound of music since birth… and every day from then until now, it has had an incredible pull on my life. I have sung so many melodies. My parents both sang, and my brothers and sister all sing… I have danced since I can remember… I learnt jazz, tap and ballet for nine years, and I studied piano and voice from when I was five years old until now.
     
    When I was young, I wrote so many simple tunes and I dreamed of one day presenting these musical ideas to someone other than myself. So many dreams… and yet none of them made much sense until I finally met my dream-maker… Jesus. This meeting was unlike any other… for in meeting him, I finally started to know myself. The more I know Him, the more I have come to understand the REASON behind the power of the music that was so real inside of me.
    At the tender age of fifteen, I committed my life to the Saviour of the world, Jesus Christ. Since that moment, His plan for my life has continued to unfold as I have learnt daily that Jesus is both my Lord… and also my best friend. Along my journey of discovery to date I have had many internal struggles to overcome… many lessons to learn, and countless religious ideas to 'unlearn'. But, more importantly, I have also come to understand and value the power of becoming someone who is committed to praising Him at all times, whose passion to worship the King is unquenchable, and one whose single desire is found in Psalm 73:25-26…
     
    "Whom have I in Heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
     
    This is my heart's quest… that as His eyes search the earth, He would find me to be an extravagant worshipper. This new album 'Kiss Of Heaven' is something I've had on my heart to do for many years. It's just the love of my family, my adoration of my God, and my love of music. It's me. It's the things that are valuable to me."

    Wear Sunscreen

    Mary Schmich

    If I could offer you only one tip for the future,
    sunscreen would be it.

    The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
    scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis
    more reliable than my own meandering experience.
    I will dispense this advice now.
    Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth.
    Oh nevermind.
    You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth
    until they have faded.
    But trust me,
    in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
    recall in a way you can’t grasp now
    how much possibility lay before you
    and how fabulous you really looked.
    You’re not as fat as you imagine.
    Don’t worry about the future.
    Or worry,
    but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an
    algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.
    The real troubles in your life are apt to be things
    that never crossed your worried mind;
    the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.
    Do one thing everyday that scares you.
    Sing.
    Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts.
    Don’t put up with people who are
    reckless with yours.

    Floss.
    Don’t waste your time on jealousy.
    Sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind.
    The race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.
    Remember the compliments you receive.
    Forget the insults. If you succeed in doing this, tell me how.
    Keep your old love letters.
    Throw away your old bank statements.
    Stretch.
    Don't feel guilty
    if you don’t know what you want to do
    with your life…
    the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22
    what they wanted to do with their lives.
    Some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.
    Get plenty of calcium.
    Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
    Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t,
    maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t.
    Maybe you’ll divorce at 40,
    maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on
    your 75th wedding anniversary.
    Whatever you do,
    don’t congratulate yourself too much or
    berate yourself either –
    your choices are half chance,
    so are everybody else’s.
    Enjoy your body, use it every way you can.
    Don’t be afraid of it,
    or what other people think of it, it’s the
    greatest instrument you’ll ever own.
    Dance
    even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
    Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
    Do NOT read beauty magazines,
    they will only make you feel ugly.
    Get to know your parents,
    you never know when they’ll be gone for good.
    Be nice to your siblings;
    they are the best link to your past and
    the people most likely to stick with you in the future.
    Understand that friends come and go,
    but for the precious few, you should hold on.
    Work hard to bridge the gaps
    in geography and lifestyle because the older you get,
    the more you need the people
    you knew when you were young.
    Live in New York City once,
    but leave before it makes you hard.
    Live in
    Northern California once,
    but leave before it makes you soft.
    Travel.
    Accept certain inalienable truths,
    prices will rise,
    politicians will philander, you too will get old.
    And when you do,
    you’ll fantasize that when you were young
    prices were reasonable,
    politicians were noble
    and children respected their elders.
    Respect your elders.
    Don’t expect anyone else to support you.
    Maybe you have a trust fund,
    maybe you have a wealthy spouse;
    but you never know when either one might run out.
    Don’t mess too much with your hair,
    or by the time you're 40, it will look 85.
    Be careful whose advice you buy,
    but, be patient with those who supply it.
    Advice is a form of nostalgia.
    Dispensing it is a way of fishing
    the past from the disposal,
    wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and
    recycling it for more than it’s worth.
    But trust me on the sunscreen

    A Tribute to Original Pinoy Music [OPM]
    The First MYX Music Awards Review

    I have a lot to say about the recent First Myx Music Awards. There are a lot of things to be commented about. I praise Myx for making this award-giving body for OPM possible. I have appreciated much what Myx have done to support Original Pinoy Music, because I am a big fan of it. All the VJ’s looked elegant that night. I really liked Iya’s dress and Heart’s chic make-up. Much admiration to Pops Fernandez’ great body that went very much splendid along with her sexy purple dress. I like it, it’s very stylish!

    All the performances are astonishing! Praise to Sandwich for its performance of Sugod! Which they performed with Wallie Gonzales and Pepe Smith! Bringing back the old tune of Teachers’ Enemy #1 (If I’m not mistaken…) And OMG, as in oooooohmygod….. My beloved Parokya Ni Edgar and much-loved Kamikazee gave a marvelous performance! VJ Iya introduced them as “the craziest of the crazy.” After watching the two groups jammed that night, I guess Iya’s very much right… Hehe.

    For the awards… Hmm… Not bad for Rachel Ann Go who won twice. My dear Sponge Cola won once… If I’m not wrong, I guess it was the Favorite Rock Music Award for KLSP. Dear Yael was all-smiles. I feel sad because Hale brought home nothing… Again. I have read in the news that Hale, although always hitting the music charts for their famous songs, have always gone home bringing no awards. Cueshe won thrice… The Favorite New Artist Award, Favorite Group Award and Favorite Song for Stay. Hmm… I guess much of the people who voted for Myx are the “masa.” Because many of those who won are, hmm… the choice of the “masa.” Hmm… I cannot believe that they surpassed the elite Bamboo, influential Sponge Cola and ESPECIALLY the leading band, Hale! No worries Hale! Your fans are still there! Well, I guess Myx, which goes for OPM, has the right audiences… which are the “masa.” Rivermaya won twice and they got the most privileged award, the Favorite Music Video. Sharon Cuneta was awarded as the Myx Magna. She was given the Myx Magna Award after she was rendered some of her famous songs by some of our country’s great singers. Although Christopher De Leon was not really a singer, He made a great version of Sharon’s Bituin Walang Ningning, which he co-starred.

    I was looking for my stars, Kitchie Nadal and Barbie Almalbis. I guess those two decided not to come. They were nominated for the Favorite Female Artist Award, which Rachel Ann Go took home. Well, I’m not a fan of Rachel Ann. I don’t like her either. But I don’t wanna comment about it.

    The Night became much remarkable because of the presence of Kamikazee’s vocalist, Jay Contreras. Kamikazee is one of my favorite bands. They released the famous songs Narda and First Day Hi, which I instantly adored and instantly became two of my favorites. Jay has all the potential to be a comedian. When he presented the award for best collaboration with Eula Valdes, he got all the attention of the crowd and all the laughs EFFORTLESSLY. He was fun and adorable and very much filled with humility. All of a sudden I decided not to like him but to like him even more! You ROCK Jay of Kamikazee!

    Congratulations to Myx. Do more and Do great for OPM fanatics like me. Myx had presented this country the versatility of our music. Myx had done a lot for OPM. A great effort of their VJ’s too. MYX. Always our choice. Always our music. MABUHAY ang OPM! (06.10.06)
